ABOUT

I’m a freelance media professional based in Manchester, United Kingdom

That’s the short version. In truth, it’s not simple to define what I do.
It’s a bit of everything, really - and it’s that variety I really love.

I grew up near Glasgow, and I’m proud of my Scottish roots. But foreign languages and cultures always fascinated me. So I studied Spanish, Portuguese and French at university, then went to work and study in Japan.

After returning home, I did a Masters degree in Journalism and started working at BBC Scotland in 2006 as a researcher in the Sport department.

From there, I’ve gone on to present programmes on BBC TV and radio, and report live from many Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games on BBC One.

I’ve interviewed some of the most famous stars in world sport, from Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal and Simone Biles, to Caster Semenya, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Bach, and more.

Off-camera, I’ve produced and edited both Sport and News programmes.

I enjoy the creativity of picking up a camera and shooting as much as broadcasting and writing. I have my own Sony FX6 kit with lights, sound and lenses, as well as a drone for aerial footage. I know how to tell compelling stories and make them look and sound the part too.

There’s no part of the broadcast process I haven’t done.

Among my client list are Olympic Broadcasting Services, the UCI, Red Bull, ITN World Athletics Productions, International Sports Broadcasting, the International Gymnastics Federation and European Gymnastics.
